About the Artist

KELLY POUNDS

I’m so happy you’re here, and I can’t wait to get to know you!

I’ve always dabbled in arts and crafts (like really complex crochet projects!), but in 2000, I was diagnosed with a rare cancer, from which I was not expected to recover. To take my mind off my fear of dying, I took art lessons for the first time in my life. I feel truly in-spired when creating art, and I found that it connected me to spirit and helped me to heal. I have only just recently begun to share my creations with others. Creating art brings me great joy, and I want to make the world a happier place by creating art that makes you feel good!

My palette knife work depicts bold, vibrant color and heavy texture. It’s truly “Art You Can Touch!” I love to paint Florida scenes, especially of the beach, but I also love to re-create my and others’ vacation memories from all over the world. I enhance my urban sketches with watercolor, and I strive to capture the essence of historic buildings in Winter Garden where I grew up. Making art that touches the heart and evokes fond memories or invites one to dream is my goal.

I’d especially love painting a commission for you from one of your favorite photos. Bringing one of your favorite memories to life or capturing the essence of your favorite pet thrills me to no end!

If you have questions or need consultation about a piece of art you see here or one you want created, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

INSPIRATION

I love to travel, and when I see a scene that grabs me, I snap a reference photo. When I paint or sketch, my goal is to convey the emotion I felt when I was there.

TECHNIQUES

I love bright colors and tons of texture! When I use heavy body acrylics and palette knives, I end up with “Art You Can Touch!” I also love to paint places and pets, and I often augment sketches with watercolor to truly capture their essence.
